The view from my back door

Most of these flowers on the lower level are day lillies. Above is a bleeding heart and a peony and the bush to the left side had the prettiest pink blossoms on it. I don't know what it is, but wish it lasted longer.

This fish is my DH art work. He was a welder at one time and used scrap metal to make lots of fun things. He made 2 dinosaurs! I'll try to find a photo of them. He is quite an artist! We went to a "hunny do" quilting class and he is better at cutting fabric than I am. He is so precise and takes his time to do sure every cut is perfect. After the class I found out the reason he agreed to go with me was so he could go on a fishing weekend with some of his buddys!!

This is the other side of the wall in the back yard. The red flowers are fern peonys. They are beautiful, but don't last long. On the top corner of the wall there are yellow iris in bloom.

On top of this section of the wall are iris. These are the green dots I saw awhile back. Look at all the wonderful greenery now. I love spring.

And my grandson!

Carson is trying to decide if he can eat this toy! He's been chewing on everything and his first tooth finally popped thru.

You can teach an old dog new tricks.

My son was home a couple weeks ago and was showing me pictures of his vacation. He popped out a little blank memory chip from my computer and put his in from his camera. I didn't know it was even there! That makes posting pictures much faster. I really need to learn more about my computer ;-) This is a shot of my birthday flowers. The white stuff was really silver. Very pretty!

This is a picture of my new kitchen. I l.o.v.e these drawers. I have a set on both sides of the stove. No more crawling into the cupboard to find a pan that is buried clear in the back under everything else.

This is the bar on one end of the kitchen. In back of the bar stools is the dining room table and hutch.

This one is looking from the other direction. If you were to look really close you could see the table which is covered still with "stuff" that needs to find a home.

This shows the sink and window. We had a window there, but I was trying to talk DH into letting me put in a new window with an arch in the top. Didn't work! I am going to make a roman shade for the window when I finally decide what color to paint.

And look what I found when I opened the cupboard door! Carson doesn't know what's going on but he still has a smile for us. I hope to show more pictures soon. It seems like I have been so busy, but I don't get anything accomplished. Our back yard looks so pretty with all the flowers coming up. Way better than the snow we had earlier.

a sneak peak at my new kitchen

The colors are off a little in this picture. I'll do better with the next pictures, I promise!

DH is still recovering from surgery. He can get up from chairs and the bed without much trouble. He still has to wear a brace and is supposed to walk. So we've been walking....short walks, but 3 or 4 times a day. He goes back to the doctor May 3rd. He is hoping that he will be able to go back to work on light duty because he is really bored now. But he still has a lot of pain. Guess we'll wait to hear what the doctor has to say.

p.s. I am still looking for my camera cord.

A belated Thank You

Last month I won a book giveaway from Amy's Creative Side. Go to Quilt Fiesta to see pictures from the book. There are beautiful quilts in this book. The first one I am going to make is Salsa Verde. Green is my favorite! I still haven't found my camera cord to link with my computer. It is utter chaos in this house.

short update

I found out that I wouldn't have made a very good nurse. Good thing I didn't go to nursing school! DH is recovering but still very slow and sore. The kitchen is almost finished!! Woo Hoo. I have most of the things put back into the cupboards. But the kitchen sink faucet just came in yesterday. Now I'll need my favorite plumber, my brother, to install it. Why didn't I learn any of that type of stuff when I worked at the plumbing shop for dad. No I just answered phones. Sorry no pics today. I still haven't found my camera cord in all the chaos.

project in the works

I found this charm pack in my stash and sewed them together. Then went looking for a border and foung the one in the pic above. The border is from a different line but it has all the right colors and I liked them together. It will have a green print backing that is the same line as the border. I have started straight line quilting it. It's something bright to look at while I am waiting for some sun shine.

Warning the following is boring...you may want to stop reading here.

My DH had major back surgery on the 21st of March. Today is the first day he is feeling a little better. Which is very good for me and his friends. Two of his close friends were coming in every day to help him with what ever he needed. They were angels to me because I have a job out of town. I would put DH pills in envelopes with the time of day on them. Found out that worked well. But he still needed fed and help getting up. I couldn't take time off work because I just started work on March 7 after being off work for 3 months. Now that he is off work I was very fortunate to have found a job. Time to go, more later.

Dear Dad

Dear Dad, I miss you so very much every day. A Life Remembered

Leonard Anthony Stinn May 9, 1928 ~ March 19, 2010

Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Connie Kay (Schaben) Stinn.

I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, "I know."

I said, "God, I cry a lot"
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."

I said, "God I am so depressed."
And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."

I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."

I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."

I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, "I saw mine nailed to a cross."

I said, "God, but your love one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."

I said, "God, where is she now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right
and yours is in the Light."

I said, "God it hurts."
And God said, "I know........."
