When ever I need a smile, I find a picture of my grandson. He can always make me smile!

Dear Dad
Dear Dad, I miss you so very much every day. A Life Remembered
Leonard Anthony Stinn May 9, 1928 ~ March 19, 2010
Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Connie Kay (Schaben) Stinn.
I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, "I know."
I said, "God, I cry a lot"
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."
I said, "God I am so depressed."
And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."
I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."
I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."
I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, "I saw mine nailed to a cross."
I said, "God, but your love one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."
I said, "God, where is she now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right
and yours is in the Light."
I said, "God it hurts."
And God said, "I know........."

In my sewing room
One of my bulletin boards in my sewing area. If you look on the bottom of the bulletin board you can see a picture of the garage door with a star on it....my DH painted it like that for me. He said since it needed to be painted it might as well look good. We got the idea from all the barn quilts around.
There are lots of little notes and drawings, along with pictures and cards, things I think are good for inspiration. What about you, do others have little pieces and drawings of special items?

The Kitchen Mess
This is a photo of part of the new cabinets. The wood is not as dark as it looks, but I just took these tonight and the light isn't the best. I am getting moss green countertops. The white ones are from the old cabinets and we set them on top so we had space to put things. I cannot believe how unhandy it is to not have a counter top or a sink. It doesn't show very good in the picture but the lower cabinets are 3 drawers that roll all the way out. I love them! No more crawling on my knees with my head inside the cabinet looking for something. I will take more pictures later on and show more of the finished kitchen. This wall is opposite from the stove. If you notice under the window is a plastic table we use as our countertop!! LOL One nice thing is the dishwasher still works, but we are using paper plates part of the time. The space about the sink is where I am going to put a few dishes or decrative plates. Under the little arch is a white shade which won't show when I put the valance back. Did you notice the toaster on the right side. DH loves his morning toast. I haven't decided what color to paint, but am thinking gray. If I was really gutsy I'd go with a brick red.
This is part of the "STUFF" that came out of the cabinates. And if you look on the left side you'll see my very cute quilt rack. I'll show a better picture of it later, and tell you about its story.
And this is the other side of the pile of "STUFF" that was in there too. There will be some major purging when it's time to put things back. The blue & red circlular thing is Carson's toy. Just ignore it. In time I also hope to replace the fireplace surround or else take it off and repaint it. I'd like something not shiney.
This is a picture of my laundry room with some of the old cabinets in it. I am standing in the opposite cornor of the room taking this picutre. The washer & dryer are on my left side and there are cabinets to match these from the kitchen already over the washer/dryer. When we moved in there was a freezer in this space, which we moved so we could put in these extra cupboards. I'm going to have so much space I won't be able to find things without a map. Maybe I'll stick a note to the door of each one and list what's inside. ;-)
And finally the garage, the resting place for displaced cupboards. My brother wants them for a rental house he's remodeling, but he is out of state on vacation. So DH can't park his pick up inside. I was lucky cos they unloaded the new cubards on my side and now it's empty!! It doesn't really matter now since it hasn't been snowing. I bet I shouldn't have said that. Now we'll probably get a huge snow storm. (knock on wood)

a long week
I've been out of work since November and finally found a job. I started this week. And it has been a long week. Guess after a few months of no schedule, I am worn out. I'll post more later about our kitchen. Finally the week I go back to work the carpenter comes to install the new cupboards. We have boxes of stuff all over the living & dining rooms. Would have been nice to have this to work on a couple months ago. Oh well, this is my spring cleaning, even tho it might take me until fall to finish it. LOL

Spring is really on its way!
And once again I forgot to post photos before I wrote about them so you can find my explanations further down after the photos. I did the photos in the right order tho! as I looked out of the house
Iris coming up!!
Day Lilly peaking out!
I looked out my kitchen window and thought I saw a little green bud thru the leaves. DH said no way. So I had to go get a closer look and there are iris' starting to peek out of the ground. Then I looked at the day lillies and saw a tiny piece of new growth. And I found a big patch of something growing like crazy. My aunt gave it to DH and we planted it last year so I'll have to ask her what it is. I am so excited for spring to get here. I want some sunshine!! And green grass, and flowers and to get all the dead stuff raked up and off the lawn.

Mug Rugs for Me
kleenix holder for my purse .... it is red and matches the mug rugs, but the colors in the photo didn't turn out true. I had a hard time posting my photos today. Don't know for sure what I did wrong.
These mug rugs are from my exchange partner, Irene, from Canada. I just love red! and these are perfect. Wonderful sewing and great fabric choices. Look at all the cute fabrics. Irene even included a purse size kleenex holder. Isn't is darling? Plus a big emery board. I can't tell you how many times I've looked for my tiny one in my purse when I'm sewing and have a rough fingernail that catches on fabrics, which drives me nuts! So THANK YOU Irene! I love my gifts.
Plus this is so fun...the gal I sent my mug rugs to, Gerrie, knows Irene (because of facebook), who sent these mug rugs to me. They are both from Canada and met thru facebook. So now I'm going to try to find them too.

Funny Prayer about Getting Old at the Caregiver of the Year Dinner
I hope this post works. I haven't tried to post a video clip before.
But to give you some background as to why I posted this...both my mother and father were in a nursing home before they passed away. This lady is saying a prayer to a group of people who take care of the elderly. And so many of the things she says are so familiar to me from when my parents were beginning to get older and the time they were in nursing homes. It is funny but it has a wonderful lesson also. Older people cannot always hear, they might walk soooo slow, not always get things right the first time they try ( Oh No, I just realized I am talking about myself too!!). I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. And I hope I posted the video right so it works. ;) ( p.s. The title is what the video was origionally posted as. I am not making fun of prayer.)
