I just hate to

have to go to meetings after supper. It is so cold outside, about zero, and I hate to leave my warm house after I get home from work. Does that mean I'm getting old, or that I just do not like to go to meetings? Probably some of both. I'd rather sew and read thru quilting magazines. Guess I'd make a good bear if I could hibernate all winter.

It is January 27th,

Can you believe it. It is almost the end of JANUARY!! I'm still wondering where December went. I missed it somewhere along the way. But I really will be glad when this month is over and hopefully the snow storms will go with it.

I'm dreaming of

an early spring! Can't believe how strong the winds were last night. It called for another quilt on the bed, otherwise DH and I take turns grabbing the covers to snuggle up with. But this morning the SUN IS SHINING! Wow, haven't seen that for awhile. But for now stay warm and sew.

Not more snow!

Well it did it again. We have another 2 inches of snow. And just when the driveway & parking lots were almost clear. One thing I'm glad for is that I do not have to work outside. Those guys who wanted a white Christmas need to start singing for Spring to come.

It's raining ice

It sounded like rain hitting the ground this morning. I went outside to check & it was ice falling off the trees. The branches over my driveway hung so low yesterday that they hit the top of the car. Today there are little chunks of ice all over. Every once in awhile while I was driving down the street I was hit with pieces of ice. What a strange sensation. Now if they would only plow the streets and get rid of the slush. It's worse than a gravel road.

I started sewing a Project Linus quilt last night and got going and ended up stitching a few pieces wrong. Now I'll have to "unsew" a few seams and pay more attention. I am also making pillow cases for the 1,000,000 pillow case project. Really quick and easy with a serger.

It was dark down there

I was sewing like a crazed woman, kind of, trying to get some projects finished and the electricity went off about midnight last night. My sewing room is in the basement. Now I'm not the most organized person so I was worried about walking thru the basement trying to remember where piles of projects may be setting, along with chairs and whatever may be lurking down there. But DH actually heard me yelling for him to get me a flashlight. Lesson learned, I need to get a flashlight and keep it close by from now on. And since it was midnight, I really didn't feel too bad about quitting for the night and going to bed.

Slip Sliding Away.....

Wow, we have ice everywhere today in western Iowa. I was afraid to back out of the driveway because I pictured my self sliding into the house across the street. The trees were hanging so low, one hit the top of my car. Wish I could have called in "stuck in the ice" but I only live a few blocks away and knew that wouldn't work. Hope everyone had a safe day.

Fun day at class

I had a great with quiltinjeanie for a teacher at the "Circle & Spin" class. We had so much fun and even got blocks made. It's so fun to see everyone using the same block pattern, but what a difference the fabric choices made.

I'm getting ready for the circle & spin class with quiltinjeanie! We'll have a day of sewing, talking & eating.....doesn't get much better than that.

Is it too late for new year's resolutions

I need to get something accomplished.
1. I have way too many UFO's taking over my sewing space.
2. I want to figure out how to post pics. The 2 already on my blog were sent to me from my son and somehow I managed to move them to the blog.
3. I need someone to give me a kick start!! ;)

p.s. I really did do some decluttering over the weekend. Also did some when I put the Christmas decorations away. Sorted out what I really wanted to keep and boxed up the rest for a fund raiser our library has the first of November. So in November all I'll need to do is grab the boxes and deliver them. I even thought far enough ahead to put them in the closet last, so they aren't buried among the rest of the decorations.

Thanks

I have a sign above my desk at work that says "There is always something to be thankful for" and I think one of the things is friends. Thank you.
Another thing I'm thankful for is almost a week without more snow. We have piles of snow that you cannot see over! Bet that will make for a slushy spring.

2010

It's hard to believe it's already a week into the new year. My dad's health has been failing for a year now and we have had to move him into the nursing home. He is "living in the past". Today he wanted to go to the farm to work. He hasn't lived on a farm since the early 50's. It is really hard to see someone who was so strong and took care of you as a child turn into someone so helpless. It's been 2 years since mom died and I think dad is to the point where he doesn't want to go on without her.
